How to Join
General practices that are members of GenPro are welcome to apply to join thePHO.
Under the Contracted Provider Agreement, practices are required to give a minimum of six months' notice to their current PHO before transferring.
PHO transfers take effect on 1 July each year. To transfer on 1 July, practices must submit notice to their current PHO by 31 December of the previous year.
How to Apply
If your practice is considering joining thePHO:
- Contact thePHO to discuss your practice and the transfer process.
- Submit your application to join thePHO.
- Provide six months' notice to your current PHO by 31 December.
- Work with thePHO team to complete onboarding, contracting, and data collection ahead of the 1 July transfer date.
Withdrawal Notice
Practices intending to transfer must provide written notice to their current PHO by 31 December.
A withdrawal notice template is available to assist with this process.
Please send a copy of your notice to enquiries@thepho.org.nz so we can confirm contractual timeframes and begin planning your onboarding.
What Happens Next?
Once your application has been received, thePHO team will work with you to:
- Complete the required contracting documentation.
- Collect practice and service information.
- Plan your onboarding and transition.
- Prepare your systems and data for transfer.
- Support your practice through to go live on 1 July.
