Our Recruitment Process

At thePHO, we want our recruitment process to feel clear, respectful and well run.

We know applying for a role takes time and energy. Our aim is to make the process straightforward, transparent and focused on finding the right fit for both you and our organisation.

Applying

Applications are submitted through our online recruitment system.

As part of your application, you’ll be asked a small number of screening questions to help us understand your experience, interest and alignment with the role.

If you apply through SEEK, we’ll email you a link to complete these questions. If you apply through our website, they’ll be included as part of the application process.

Video Interview

As part of our recruitment process, your application may be progressed to a short video interview. This AI‑powered interview helps us get to know you a little better and understand how you like to work.

If you’re invited to complete a video interview, we’d really appreciate it if you could do so as soon as possible.

Formal Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a formal interview, usually held via Microsoft Teams.

These interviews are structured and designed to help us understand your experience, judgement, working style and alignment with thePHO’s values and purpose.

Assessment Tools

Depending on the role, we may ask candidates to complete additional assessment tools, including:

Cognitive ability assessments, such as verbal or numerical reasoning
Personality profiling

These tools are only one part of the process and are used alongside interviews and other information.

References and Background Checks

Candidates progressing to the final stages will be asked to provide two referees:

  • One current direct manager
  • One previous manager

For some roles, we will also require a Ministry of Justice criminal history check.

Keeping You
Updated

We aim to keep candidates informed throughout the process and communicate clearly at each stage.

We appreciate the time people invest in applying to work with us and aim to make the experience professional, respectful and well supported throughout.
